Police hunt train defecator
Police are hunting a man who caused more than 20 000 GBP damage by defecating on trains.
On 2007-05-01 Mr. Bonney Eberendu, who had been awaiting sentence for committing criminal damage offences, escaped from a hospital where he had been undergoing a mental health assessment.
British Transport Police are now appealing for help from the public to track him down.
The 36-year-old homeless man was arrested by police in 2006-10 after CCTV images of him were circulated.
Mr. Eberendu later pleaded guilty at Westminster Magistrates’ Court to 22 offences of causing criminal damage across the railway network in the south and south-east of England.
He had smeared human excrement inside carriages over a three-month period.
Mr.Eberendu was undergoing the mental health assessment ahead of a sentencing hearing expected later this month.
British Transport Police spokesman Detective Constable Ms. Donna Fox said:
‘We are extremely concerned for his well-being and are urging any members of the public who may see him travelling on the transport network to alert police immediately.
‘Police are circulating his image as a wanted person.
‘Anyone who sees him should call 080 040 5040.’

Mr Bonney Eberendu, 36, was awaiting sentence when he escaped from a London hospital on Tuesday.
He had earlier admitted charges of causing criminal damage across South London’s railway network.
Mr. Eberendu was arrested by police in October after he was spotted at Camberwell Green bus garage.
It followed 22 incidents on trains bound for London Bridge and Waterloo, on which human excrement was found smeared over the seats and tables.
Mr. Eberendu’s three-month campaign of smearing human excrement inside the carriages posed a serious risk to public health and cost more than 20 000 GBP to clean up.
He had also been charged with possessing an offensive weapon — a knife.
At the time he absconded, Eberendu was undergoing a mental health assessment before his sentencing hearing, which is expected to take place later this month.
Anyone who has spotted him should call British Transport Police on 080 040 5040.
